Domaine RemyAn Atherton Wine Imports Direct DomaineDomaine Louis Remy became famous in the 1940s for producing elegant, pure wines with remarkable ageing ability. Many of their wines from the 60s and 70s are still delicious today. Chantal Remy-Rosier now runs this tiny (3 ha) domaine and is continuing the long tradition of natural winemaking. Chantal picks fairly late, retains 10% of the stems and ferments using natural yeasts. Primary fermentation lasts as long as 3 weeks and reaches temperatures of 30-32 C. The wines are still kept in barrel for a relatively long time, but now Chantal uses a small percentage of new oak. There are no pumps in the winery and Chantal neither fines nor filters the wines before they are hand-bottled. Allen Meadows on Domaine Remy:“The quality of the Remy wines improves each year and this (2002) is easily the most promising set of wines I have ever tasted from them.” (Burghound, Jan 2004) Chantal Remy-Rosier on the 2002 Vintage:“very well balanced with solid structure and more color than 2001. We had good quantity and high quality, which brings vintages like 1990 and 1999 to mind.” (Burghound, Jan 2004) Featured Wines
