Domaine Pavillon

An Atherton Wine Imports Direct Domaine

Maison Bichot purchased this estate in 1993 and they now own 17 hectares of vineyards in the Cote de Beaune. At the end of the 1990s, quality improved dramatically at Domaine Pavillon due largely to the efforts of Maison Bichot’s Managing Director Albéric Bichot and Technical Director Alain Serveau. The latest vintages are winning worldwide acclaim and recent awards include Winemaker of the Year 2004 - Le Journal de Paris, International Pinot Noir Trophy - Decanter World Wine Awards 2004 and Red Winemaker of the Year - 2004 Wine International Challenge.

While Albéric and Alain have made some changes in the cellar, most of the credit for the recent improvement is due to their work in the vineyards. Yields have been reduced, grapes are picked at full maturity and they are moving towards completely organic farming.

Pavillon’s most prestigious vineyard – the Clos des Marechaudes Monopole – is also a novelty. It is actually split between two appellations and the higher part of the vineyard is bottled as a Grand Cru Corton while the lower part is a Premier Cru Aloxe Corton.
