Bachelet-Ramonet

An Atherton Wine Imports Direct Domaine

This Domaine was created when Claude Ramonet passed away in 1977 and his daughter added her inheritance to her husband Georges Bachelet’s holdings. Claude’s son, Pierre, kept the rest of the vineyards and continued to make wines under the Domaine Ramonet label. Alain Bonnefoy, who married into the family, now runs Bachelet-Ramonet.

While Alain has continued the tradition of making elegant, balanced wines, his techniques in the vineyard and the cellar are now producing more concentrated wines. All the wines are aged in some new oak, with the Grands Crus seeing as much as 45 percent.

Praise for Bachelet-Ramonet:

“If Bonnefoy continues to progress in his winemaking as he has over the last two or three years, Chassagne's small group of stars will have to make room for another member.” (Wine Advocate, Apr. 1998)

“I encourage those readers who are not familiar with the Bachelet-Ramonet wines to try a bottle or two as the quality levels achieved with the better wines in the last few years are really quite impressive.” (Allen Meadows Burghound, Jan. 2001).

“There has been a major improvement in quality here in recent years both in terms of concentration and in terms of vigour. Now a domaine worthy of the reputation it had 20 years ago.” (Clive Coates The Vine, Oct. 2004).
