One of the most underrated Chateaux in all of Bordeaux.

Most of the vineyards owned by Chateau Larruau surround those of 1st Growth Chateau Margaux.

Bernard Ginestet - one of the foremost world authorities on the Margaux appellation - calls it the best value from the region.

Robert Parker declares the wines "intensely concentrated" and says that one of his "personal goals is to taste more wines from Bernard Chateau," the owner and winemaker of Larruau.

  • Grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon (approx. 50%) and Merlot (approx. 50%)
  • Harvesting: Hand picked and sorted
  • Fermentation/Maceration: In temperature-controlled tanks
  • Ageing: 18 months in barrel: 1/3rd new, 1/3rd one year old, 1/3rd two years old
  • Fining/Filtering: Fined with natural egg whites; unfiltered
  • Optimum Drinking: Typically drinkable upon release, the best vintages should spend 2-3 years in the cellar before consumption
